Curriculum Vitae –  Morgana Hack

Growing up in rural Bavaria, I learned the foundations of healthy nutrition, herbalism including botanical names, naturopathy and even homeopathy from my mother at an early age. I still remember my great grandmother – she died when I was eight years old – and her father – my ancestor – having been a folk healer from Lithuania, at the turn of 19th to 20th century. In my youth, I was dedicated to folk healing, in summer, my room was full of herbs, hanging for drying.

Despite that, I went for modern medicine studies in Germany, at Philipps University of Marburg. But during those years, I repeatedly and “secretly” traveled to India, and received a intense training lasting over 10 years in traditional Ayurveda from my teacher Dr. PMS Raveendranath in the Vaidya family tradition of Kerala.

After completing both modern and traditional medicine degrees in 2005, I set up my private Ayurveda clinic for a period of 10 years in Germany. As regulations tightend, I went to Switzerland in 2017 to pursue my specialisation in modern medicine. But destiny wanted me to follow a different path. Due to private tragic family matters, I dropped out at the beginning of Covid-19, went back to Germany, and helped migrants in primary medicine in German refugee camps. Besides this being a hard job, it taught me a lot about trauma…. and healing in uncertain conditions.

In 2024 I started out on a “sabbatical” and journey around the world through ecovillages and intentional communities. I once again reached India, and found Unani, the “ionic” = Greek Ancient Medicine that transitioned from Hippocrates and Avicenna as far as Muslim Indian culture. Today, Unani is recognized by AYUSH ministry as one out of five traditional medicine systems of India. It was once upon a time called “Humoral Medicine” all over Europe.

I started my own research and pulled back the bow, recollecting all the knowledge and wisdom – from childhood folk healing and Five Elements of Life and Ancient Greek and Arab medical texts. With this deep immersion, I was able to heal myself and help others on my way. Feeling that we need to reconnect to our seasons, to our land, of our ancestors – if we want to hel ourselves.

My background and expertise

Modern Medicine

I hold a medical degree from Philipps-Universität Marburg and have professional experience as a physician in family medicine, psychosomatic medicine, trauma therapy approaches and migrant medicine. I am a trained nutritionist with specialised knowledge in planetary health diet, human microbiome research and food systems. Through ongoing study of climate science and planetary health, I explore how environmental change affects the female body — and how integrative medicine — including scientific approaches to herbal medicine — can meet the challenges of our time. Today, I chose to not practice as an active physician any longer, but my medical degree remains a foundation and source of knowledge.

Ayurveda

allI received training in classical Ayurveda within the Gurukula tradition (“teacher’s school”) and lived for years in India in Poonthottam Ayurvedasram. For one decade, I ran my own Ayurveda clinic with a focus on full Pancakarma practice and women’s health. I learned Ayurveda pharmacology to an extent where I was finally teaching indigenous village women from the Nilgiri mountains, which are part of Indias biosphere western ghats, to prepare herbal Ayurvedic home remedies. Alongside this, my Eastern meditation practice evolved through Vipassana, MBSR, mantra and white tantra — and is part of this same journey of working with the whole person. I traveled through Southeast almost all of India and Nepal, and lived for a month in Auroville, India’s famous spiritual township.

Humoral Medicine

From Folk Medicine and Herbalism in my youth to Humoral Medicine – this was a transition that I did not expect, but it came naturally through experience, accompanied by reading texts like “Airs, Waters and Places” from the Corpus Hippocraticum and the Canon of Medicine by Avicenna, which contains Hippocrates and Galen of Pergamom par excellence.
During my Ayurveda practice, I always noticed a certain “friction” regarding our four seasons and the three Doshas – they would not fit together and thus, results are now better when applying the principles of Four Humors in individualized medicine, reconnecting people to our biosphere and Europe’s four seasons.
Between 2024 and 2025 I spent a year living and volunteering in ecovillages across the world — a journey that brought the connection between personal health and land health from theory into lived practice. Through this work, I have learned that regenerative culture is not separate from medicine: it is medicine at the scale of the land.
